Reporting to the Senior Incineration Manager, the General Manager will be fully accountable for the operational activities of the Plant, in order to safely meet customer service levels, utilisation and availability levels, and compliance and environmental conditions, within approved Business Plan Budgets and to set targets. They can offer a package of c£40,000 + a bonus of up to 3k.

General Manager will have a good man-management background and strong technical ability.

Main Tasks and Accountabilities

To manage plant operations to license and H&S requirements
Liaise with the Regional Operations Mgr on collections, routes and capacity
Have full budgetary responsibility for the Business
Lead and direct Plant Manager and site personnel
Compile site business plans
Maintenance and development of operational systems on site
Regular liaison with the Environment Agency and other Regulatory bodies
Appoint, develop and discipline staff
Organise the plant scheduled maintenance in conjunction with the Plant Manager
Oversee visitors and contractors on site
Prioritise and schedule work of the Plant
Monitor statutory calibrations
Maximise utilisation especially during planned and unplanned maintenance
Plan and implement plant improvements
Authorised signatory for the Plant
Compile and authorise Risk assessments
Monitor use of consumables and spares
To assist on other sites within the group when reasonably requested
To support the Commercial Team in account development through regular contact/close liaison with the local customer network.

Candidate Requirements:

Formal qualification in Engineering; and/or NVQ in Waste Treatment
Understanding of Business Plans and with experience of budgetary management
Technical expertise with the capability of undertaking 'running repairs' to plant and equipment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate a multi skilled team into a new way of doing things
Well developed customer service, communications and interpersonal skills
Process plant experience would be an advantage
Good understanding of plant related legislation
Knowledge of transport legislation, and preferably CPC qualified
