Import Administrator / Shipping Clerk to join company in Maidstone,
Kent. Salary c£22,000 + 25 days hols, pension, discounts. Reporting
to the Import Manager, you will manage necessary documentation and
online forms for the efficient, cost-effective and lawful execution
of all import activities. As Import Admininistrator will be responsible
for ensuring timely delivery of goods.
Key Accountabilities:
Prepare and submit relevant administration in a timely and accurate
manner, including shipping schedules, letters of credit, import licences
Advise on relevant import law and procedures, tariffs and duties,
licences and restrictions
Maintain effective communication with shipping lines, forwarding agents
and port health authorities to ensure prompt clearance and delivery
of the consignments
Check all documentation relating to the importation of goods from
abroad and forward to clearing agents
Ensure that all duties and import dues/taxes are settled, maintain
records and inspect customs tariffs
Ensure that negotiated terms agreed with suppliers are adhered to
Secure insurance cover on all imported cargoes, maintain the register
and progress claims
Ensure Intrastat Returns to HM Customs are undertaken monthly in respect
of imports from EEC
Check and pass hauliers, freight forwarders invoices
Employee Specification:
MINIMUM 3 years experience gained within freight forwarding
Computer literate - Good knowledge of Excel Spreadsheets
Knowledge of H.M. Customs tariff and procedures
